Guesthouse

Our Guesthouse

Right next to our café, you’ll discover our charming guesthouse. This unique place used to be a hideout for smugglers, sitting right on the border where Spain’s rustic Extremadura region meets Portugal’s Alto Alentejo within the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park. The buildings themselves have a history dating back to the late 19th century, and the location is a historical gem: you can walk into the house from one country and step out into another! This spot has always been tied to the colourful history of smuggling between Portugal and Spain. Ask us more about it over a glass of wine!

For your cross-border vacation, we’ve got two self-catering apartments waiting for you. Each apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, alongside a fully-equipped kitchen, a comfortable dining and living area complete with a wood burner for those chilly days and air conditioning for the warmer ones. Of course, we’ve got free Wi-Fi on-site. The patio is nestled between the two main buildings, where you find the inviting pool and several spots where you can bask in the sun or find some cool shade.

Every morning, you can kickstart your day with one of our delightful breakfast baskets, available in both vegan and vegetarian versions. As our guests, you’re always welcome to join us in the vineyard or out on the farm. Or you can venture out to explore the area on your own: with its numerous hiking paths, hidden trails, and stunning natural beauty.

Your holiday here is all about savouring an authentically rural experience: Our “Casa Rural” is open year-round, and we happily welcome pets because we’re big animal lovers ourselves. Therefore, we kindly ask you not to bring any animal products onto the premises. We’re all about loving animals – and not eating them. Enjoy your stay in this unique setting where the boundaries between countries blur, and the experience is naturally magical.
