Wine School

Learning with the vineyard

The SMWP Wine School offers wine education grounded in experience, landscape, and our connection with nature. We believe in learning with our hands, our senses, and our stories, well beyond theory. Here, wine is more than a product. It’s a way of connecting to the land.

You learn from the people who actually grow the grapes and make the wine: we are winemakers and organic farmers with muddy boots, wild ideas, and hands-on experience. Our wines are experimental, our approach is honest, and no two sessions are ever the same.

What We Offer

Wine Workshops
Taste with us, explore with us. These half- or full-day workshops are designed for curious wine lovers who want to understand what natural wine really means: from vine to glass.
Some current favourites:

  • Altitude Wines — A blind tasting exploring the uniqueness of São Mamede wines
  • Local & Natural — Regional natural wines from both sides of the “raya” border
  • Natural Wine Primer — A gentle deep-dive into what makes wine wild

Upcoming Events

Seasonal Tastings & Terroir Explorations

Walk the vineyard. Taste what’s growing. Hear how altitude, soil, and sun shape every bottle. Our sessions change with the seasons, and often include wines that are still in progress, straight from the barrel.

Professional Courses

For those wanting to deepen their knowledge with a recognised qualification, we offer specific courses for professionals. These courses are always taught from the ground up, with a focus on organic and low-intervention practices.

How We Learn

We don’t just talk about wine — we live it.
You’ll taste experimental batches, see fermentations in action, and hear the logic behind every decision.
We learn in the vineyard, the cellar, the kitchen.
We welcome questions. We value intuition. We celebrate the imperfect and the unrepeatable.

Wine here is alive — and learning about it should be too.
